ALPHA WOM may not be up and running as fast as we'd like yet but that doesn't mean we can't start sharing our thoughts on everything that is WOM.
Hopefully, with a few more posts anyone (who is awesome) that peeps our blog will have a really nice understanding of what ALPHA WOM is. That being said, this is how we've best described ourselves when people ask about our organization:
ALPHA WOM is a women’s initiative. Its composition is defined as, created by, and orchestrated for females who are looking to perform beyond what is socially expected. It is a platform for women and girls to liberate and empower themselves and each other by creating a strong female community that engenders discussion, education, and activism. Interweaving the principles of knowledge, creativity, leadership, self-efficacy, and advocacy, we are cultivating one another and ourselves to actively promote the greater good of all women.
We want to create an environment where WOMs have a comprehensive understanding of their relationship to the social world and how to use that knowledge positively. Unfortunately, most of these discussions on sociological topics don't happen until you're in college (if you decide to go or are privileged enough to do so). So we've ecstatically taken it upon ourselves to start up these discussions. So please, use our blog as a tool. Then share your thoughts, resources, books, art, stories, etc, so we can use them as a tool as well.
